Lake Motosu Campground — New Shower Facility
Lake Motosu campground has added a new shower building with four stalls and hot water. Previously, Motosu had only basic cold-water taps and no shower facilities. The new showers are coin-operated (¥200 for 5 minutes) and accept ¥100 coins only. This is a significant improvement for the most remote campground in the region. Updated the Camping Guide to reflect the new facilities.
Yurari Onsen — Price Increase
Yurari Onsen (Kawaguchi) increased their entry fee from ¥1,200 to ¥1,300. The increase applies to adult entry; child rates remain unchanged. Hours and facilities are unaffected. Updated the Onsen Guide with the new price.
Fuji-Subaru Line Toll Road — Seasonal Pricing
The toll road to the Yoshida Trail 5th Station has updated its seasonal pricing structure. Peak season (July 10 – September 10) remains ¥2,100 each way. Off-season rates have been adjusted to ¥1,600 each way for private vehicles. Motorcycles remain ¥1,100 year-round. Updated the Climbing Guide with current pricing.
Benifuji no Yu — Expanded Foot Bath
Benifuji no Yu (Yamanaka) has expanded their free outdoor foot bath area, adding seating for approximately 20 more people. The foot bath remains free and open to non-paying visitors. Updated the Onsen Guide.
Correction — Saiko Green Line Bus Schedule
A reader pointed out that our Five Lakes guide listed the last Green Line bus from Saiko as 6:30pm. The correct last bus time is 6:00pm (5:30pm on weekdays in off-season). We verified this with the Fujikyu bus office and updated the article. Thanks to Marcus from Sydney for the correction.
Lake Kawaguchi Campground — New Reservation System
The main Lake Kawaguchi north shore campground has launched an online reservation system that accepts international credit cards and doesn't require a Japanese phone number. This is a significant improvement for foreign visitors. The system is in Japanese only but is navigable with browser translation. Updated the Camping Guide with booking instructions.
Correction — Fudo no Yu Hours
Our Onsen Guide listed Fudo no Yu as open until 21:00. The correct closing time is 20:00 (last entry 19:30). We discovered this error during a personal visit and corrected it immediately. The article also now notes that Fudo no Yu is closed on Thursdays, which wasn't previously mentioned.
Yoshida Trail 2026 Opening Date Announced
The Yoshida Trail opening date for the 2026 climbing season has been announced as July 10, 2026. This is consistent with previous years. The closing date is tentatively scheduled for September 10, 2026, subject to weather conditions. Updated the Climbing Guide with confirmed dates.
Saiko Iyashi no Sato — Entry Fee Change
Entry to Saiko Iyashi no Sato increased from ¥400 to ¥500. The foot baths remain included in the entry fee at no additional cost. Updated the Onsen Guide.
New Content — Lake Shoji Access Guide
Added detailed access information for Lake Shoji to the Five Lakes guide, including the infrequent bus schedule, driving directions, and parking limitations. This section was expanded based on reader feedback that Shoji was the lake people most wanted to visit but couldn't figure out how to reach.
How We Handle Updates
We update content in two ways. First, we make corrections as soon as we become aware of errors — whether through our own visits, reader feedback, or official announcements. These corrections are applied directly to the relevant articles.
Second, we log significant changes on this page so regular readers can see what's changed without re-reading entire articles. A "significant change" is anything that would affect a travel decision: price changes, facility openings or closures, schedule changes, or corrections to factual errors.
We don't have a fixed update schedule — we're three people with day jobs, not a full-time editorial team. But we aim to verify and update our most-read content at least once per season, and we prioritize corrections that readers report to us.
